Business Development Representative (KC)

OCCU-TEC, Inc. is a mature, profitable company headquartered in North Kansas City, Missouri, with project offices in Indiana, Michigan, North Carolina, and Texas. We are a multi-disciplined consulting and training firm providing specialized business solutions to help commercial and industrial clients effectively manage environmental, occupational health and safety (EH&S) risks. In addition to our EH&S services we offer a full line of services in the Critical Fuel marketplace by inspecting, repairing and managing large projects on critical fuel systems for backup generators, primarily in the telecommunications and health care industries. We are considered the “Solution Specialists” by our clients and believe our client loyalty is the key indicator to our success. Our goal is to expand our local and national reach increasing our market share. We are looking for an “A-level Player” to join our Business Development Team in the Kansas City office to help fuel this growth. The successful candidate will have high energy, relevant experience and be excited about working in a small, privately held company with a positive and team-oriented culture.

This position will report directly to the Director of Business Development. This position is an essential, strategic component of the OCCU-TEC team. The Business Development Representative provides frontline, outbound prospecting, lead generation, and follow-up, clearly qualifying opportunities and communicating OCCU-TEC’s value to clients. This position will be primarily focused within OCCU-TEC’s EH&S division(s).

Key accountabilities of the position include:

  • Generate new revenue acquired through new customers through prospecting (cold calls, walk-ins, networking, trade shows, etc.) to achieve profitable sales growth objectives within target markets. This will include the identification of opportunities and development of strategies and tactics to secure new business.
  • Coordinate sales efforts with team members and other departments (marketing).
  • Maintain positive business relationships to maintain and enhance future sales/recurring revenue.
  • Develop and maintain a high technical competency for our services and stay abreast of industry trends, new regulations, and the ever-changing landscape of the EH&S environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead generation and prospecting
  • Qualification of leads
  • Acquisition of new customers
  • Effectively execute sales strategy within target market
  • Participate in and complete responses to RFPs and RFQs
  • Maintain CRM (HubSpot / Deltek Vision)
  • Meet and exceed sales goals

Your Qualifications:

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics:

  • 3+ years of previous EH&S industry sales experience
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience generating leads and closing sales
  • Proven ability to develop and grow accounts
  • Self-starter with demonstrated drive and initiative
  • Proven ability to develop and execute sales strategies
  • Inherent accountability to meet/exceed expectations and goals with minimal supervision
  • Ability to cultivate trusting relationships and personal connections with clients
  • Computer skills and vast technical proficiency (Microsoft suite, CRMs, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience creating extensive proposals

Critical Fuel Systems Repair Technician (KC)

  • Diagnose and perform repairs of critical fuel systems.
  • Ensure critical fuel systems are compliant with Local, State, and Federal regulations.
  • Perform projects within established budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform all job functions in safe manner and ensure the safety of fellow teammates.
  • Conduct inspections and testing of fuel systems.
  • Troubleshoots, performs repairs and preventative maintenance of fuel systems.
  • Assess electrical and mechanical conditions of existing and new equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain Automatic Tank Gauging Equipment.
  • Install new components and test for proper functionality.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control checks of work performed.
  • Communicate findings to supervisor, project manager, and clients in a clear and concise manner.
  • Excellent time management and personal accountability.
  • Maintain company equipment and inventory in good working order.

Your Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to lift fifty pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop, sit, or stand for extended periods of time
  • Clean driving record
  • Reliable transportation
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check for security clearance.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Interface with clients, establish rapport, and project a professional tone.
  • Perform projects within established budgets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform all job functions in safe manner and ensure the safety of fellow teammates.
  • Conduct environmental investigations and recommend corrective measures.
  • Conduct safety investigations and recommend corrective measures.
  • Coordinate safety committee meetings with client representatives.
  • Identify training needs and conduct training.
  • Coordinate with multiple parties regarding investigations.
  • Complete field sampling using a variety of sampling techniques, equipment, and media for industrial hygiene and environmental projects.
  • Adhere to all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
  • Produce professional survey reports based on investigations.
  • Perform duties in all climate conditions.
  • Observe all company and client safety programs and procedures.
  • Excellent time management and personal accountability.
  • Maintain company equipment and inventory in good working order.

Your Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related science.
  • Ability to lift fifty pounds
