Environmental services firm based in North Kansas City ranked in top 100 fastest growing companies in the Midwest
NORTH KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 31, 2026) – Environmental services firm OCCU-TEC, Inc. has been ranked in the top 100 of the 2026 Inc. Regionals: Midwest list of fast-growing private companies held in the Midwest. OCCU-TEC ranks No. 81, its highest ranking yet.
"After more than 40 years in business, we’ve learned that growth is a result of adaptation,” says Skuli Gudmundsson, president and CEO of OCCU-TEC. “Our continued momentum comes from offering reliable solutions to our customers as they face ever-changing challenges in their industries year after year. By staying agile with our services to best support our customers and prepare them for what’s next, we are setting them up for lasting success.”
2026 is the third consecutive year that OCCU-TEC has appeared on the Inc. Regionals: Midwest list and its eighth time being recognized by Inc. for its growth since 2019.
The business's continued growth has been fueled by its Managed Environmental, Safety and Health (MESH) services and its Critical Fuel Systems services.
“Our continued growth reflects what our clients need most today – confidence that their essential critical fuel systems will work when they’re needed, along with clear, practical guidance to stay compliant as requirements evolve,” said Gudmundsson. “By combining responsive support with expertise that’s easy to understand and act on, we help organizations reduce risk, avoid unnecessary costs, and stay focused on their operations.”
An extension of the national Inc. 5000 list, the Regionals list offers a data-driven look at the independent businesses driving growth across the Midwest economy. Companies on this year’s list demonstrate exceptional revenue expansion, resilience, and job creation during a challenging economic period. Between 2022 and 2024, these 144 private companies had a median growth rate of 69 percent; by 2024, they’d also added 8,171 jobs and $5.2 billion to the region’s economy.
“The honorees on this year’s Inc. Regionals list achieved exceptional growth at a time when the odds were against them. Amid inflation, supply chain disruptions, and ongoing economic uncertainty, they didn't just persevere – they innovated, adapted, and thrived. Their resilience made them standouts in their industries and true growth engines in their regions,” said Bonny Ghosh, editorial director at Inc.

Inc. Regionals Methodology
The Inc. Regionals lists are ranked according to percentage revenue growth over two years. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2022. They had to be U.S.-based, privately held, for-profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2024. (Since then, a number of companies on the list may have gone public or been acquired.) The minimum revenue required for 2022 is $100,000; the minimum for 2024 is $1 million. As always, Inc. reserves the right to decline applicants for subjective reasons.
